This a partial response to "how can you be sending young people over to Iraq."

Also he was ordered to have no opinion on "Stop Loss".

when trying to justify Iraq. Neither argument makes sense.

3. Where are they getting THAT number from?

There are 16,000 murders a year here, and about 40,000 or so traffic fatalities. Are illegals committing ALL the murders? Are ALL traffic fatalities caused by an illegal immigrants?

Are illegal immigrants sceaking around an sticking lit cigarettes in our mouths while we sleep? Are they setting up sun lamps in our bedrooms to give uss skin cancer? Do they dust our faces was asbestos powder while we sleep?

5. Did you talk to this Recruiter yourself?

Just wondering you you talked to this guy yourself or if it is hearsay???

I met with an Army National Guard Recruiter a little over a year and a half ago about enlisting. My recruiter was very honest, I double checked him on everything, and didn’t pull any BS facts like the guy you describe.

He was as also upfront about Stop Loss. Looking into it, and I may be mistaken, but appears Stop Loss only effects those on the Inactive Ready Reserve. As in if you sign up for 4 years, you spend 4 years on IRR. When on IRR you can still be called up. The shortest enlistment is 8 years in reality even if you sign up for 3 years.

Anyway my recruiter was very upfront about the likelihood of deployment, the possibility of being called up after your contract is up “because it really is not until 8 years” and even said “Plus, Bush will be out of office before we all know it!” as a selling point.

The guy you mention must be a bad apple in the bunch.

I trust the person who quoted him to be honest about the quote. I've worked with him for about 16 years and we have had family social events together two or three times a year over the years.

A family member ran a MPS in the midwest until about 2001 and he wouldn't have put up with this guy but a lot of things have changed. Some recruiters will tell you what you want to hear and you wanted the truth.
