Mac Hammond trying to fly below radar of charlatan pastor scandals
http://www.startribune.com/local/north/15724587.html

But it seems the pastor isn't quite as high-flying these days and is being forced to sell off his private jet. How on earth is Michele going to get around now?

1. I saw that
Notice how they say that, after the "laying on of hands" then the customer, uh I mean parishioner, does not instantly strike it rich, they leave?
Laying on of hands, MFA. It means the suckers sign up for whatever get rich quick scheme is floating around that church and it goes south on them.

Unlike the subprime mortgage victims, these pseudo-Christian greedheads truly get no sympathy from me.

2. Hammond is another self-designated "minister"
who founded a church without being vetted by anyone.

Mainline clergy have to go through about a two-year process of self-evaluation, evaluation by their parish, and evaluation by their local governing body before they're even allowed to take a three-year seminary course.

They're expected to follow their national church's salary schedule, which is based on the size of the church they're serving, and it would be very difficult for any of them to dream up moneymaking ventures, because they are answerable not only to their national and regional church governing bodies but also to an elected governing board of lay people.

The megachurch types, especially those that brag about being "non-denominational," are often one-man operations (most likely funded under the table by conservative political foundations, or else they wouldn't be able to build churches so quickly) run as dictatorships by untrained ministers who push their particular hobby horses, whether it's homosexuality, abortion, or "the Islamic threat."

3. And many mainline clergy not only worry about answering to their governing body
they also worry about answering to God.

4. OMG that rules.
HA

He's the stereotypical false prophet.
I don't think Jesus used his time promoting the hatred of others and justifying enormous wealth.

"pastor" might not be the right descriptor

6. I always thought he was a charlitan
When he had that "Winners Way" segment on the Today show on KARE. He still has his weekend show which I quickly flip through. He just comes off as very snake-oil salesman immediately.
