Has anyone heard about Mark Dayton moving his office to MN?
I just heard this on the news. Apparently there are "classified" threats against Mark Dayton and his staff, of a terroristic nature, presumably. They're serious enough threats that the entire Dayton office and staff are moving operations to MN.

1. Yea. For security reasons until after the election.
It doesn't say much more than that.

2. are the threats specific to Sen Dayton and staff or to all of Capitol Hill
I thought Sen Dayton's statement and comments made it sound like the threat was focused on the entire Capitol Hill area.

:scared:

3. I got the same impression.
As of now, he is the only senator closing his Washington office. What we're not being told is how many members of Congress are departing Washington but leaving their offices open. Dayton expressed concern for the safety of his staff as well as himself. He also said he would not let his sons come to Capitol Hill right now and discouraged other Minnesotans from doing so.

That weasel Coleman said that doing this is "giving in to the terrorists." Of course, Mark is a liberal Democrat so he probably has more to fear.

4. And what Coleman doesn't say is all the senators are leaving town
(after Frist's weekend session that prevented people like Daschle from going home to campaign and participate in debates)

to spend the next weeks campaigning for themselves or their ticket.

Coleman was probably the first one out of town. By the way, what is his real name? I understand he changed his name years ago to sound more mainstream.

5. When I heard the story initially...
it sounded like the threats were fairly specific (reading between the lines, I got the impression that the threats might be from a fringe-far-right group). It does now appear that the threats are more general in nature. There is some discussion elsewhere on the list that Dayton may have made this announcement as part of a strategy (apparently having to do with Sen. Frist and an intelligence report).
