I am not saying not to supprt Mr. Bell - but please don't compare him and his campaign to Paul Wellstone - it does a disservice to both of them.
And really there is no comparison.
Paul had run for Statewide office before he ran for Senate - so he had some name recognition going into the race. He had a strong activist network from all of his social organizing and he had been involved with the DFL party before he ran - he didn't just come out of the blue to run for US Senate
Mr. Bell has never run for office before, has no politcal network to speak of, has no grassroots organization to speak of, has very little staff, most of whom have never worked on or run a US Senate race and no money. So, yea, his message is right on - but how is he going to spread that message? How is he going to drive people to caucus?
I am not saying that just because Ms. Klobuchar has more money - which helps - but she has all the other elements that Mr. Bell doesn't - she has a large staff that has been out on the ground for a year, she has rounded up almost all of the key players and most of the party faithful, she can give a rousing speech (it doesn't actaully say anything - but it does make everybody feel good) and she has experienced people guiding and helping her. She has the mechanism in place to drive people to caucus and get them to go on to be delegates to the State Convention.
Again, I do like Mr. Bell and I like what he has to say - but it will take more than that to win and his campaign is not structurally sound enough for the long haul.
