Special Election 12/27 Can pick up state senate seat
http://www.tarrylforsenate.com/index.html

In the St. Cloud area there is a chance to pick up a State Senate seat by electing Tarryl Clark. Tarryl ran in 2002, and in a year when the GOP was sweeping the country, she came within 500 votes of defeating the incumbent.

This will be a tough race because of the Governor's scheduling of this election, which appears to be designed to keep voter turnout down.

Tarryl is a great candidate and will be a great state senator. Please contribute what you can and volunteer. There will be opportunities for all. If you come from out of the St. Cloud area, there may be car pooling opportunities, just ask when you sign up to volunteer. And I will guarantee coffee and donuts for any DU volunteer.

There is also a race for House District 15B, this has been a democratic seat in a leaning republican area for many years. Larry Haws, a county commissioner is running. He is a strong candidate, a well-known community volunteer and the former director of park's admin. for St. Cloud. http://larryhaws.com/

Please help!!!! These are both winable seats, but the GOP is going to be fighting hard. We need to fight harder.

1. It's specifically geared to keeping the student vote down
Since many students who would likely vote for Clark may be on holiday break.

This is a bald ploy by Pawlenty. Democrats should make canvas the campus before Christmas, and get an absentee ballot in every student's hand and sweep that election.

2. I think you are right
and I will pass the absentee voter idea along to the campaign, although the Tarryl Clark folks are pretty astute.

3. I think that'll be key for Clark
That and a bunch of doorknocking. But Pawlenty's plan is obviously to do the election when people won't be there that would vote for Clark. Thus, the real key is to log those college votes early.
