Louis Palau?
I vaguely remember this person promoting religious beliefs on the grounds of the State Capitol.

So when I got a call from a marketing group asking me whether my impression of him was positive or negative, I said negative and that was the end of the survey.

1. Yes, who is this person?
About 5 years ago, I got coerced by a friend to go see him Live. I got dragged down to his "event" in downtown Portland.

It was a big draw: lots of Christians, waving their hands, singing, chanting, cheering, "warriors for Christ" that type of thing.

(yawn, snore). He just struck me as a Billy Graham type, NONE of his words affected me because I was too busy snoozing during the whole ridiculous event.:smoke:

Here's his website: http://www.palau.org/ and the link to his bio is: http://www.palau.org/lpea/about/luisbio.php

on edit:

excerpt from bio:

Mr. Palau has authored close to 50 books and countless articles on issues of faith, and has counseled with business and political leaders and heads of state around the world. In the past year, he has been featured in news stories on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and the New York Times, among others. His latest book on positive and productive living -- High Definition Life -- was recently released by Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.

Luis Palau Festivals have produced some of the largest audiences in recent memory, including 300,000 in south Florida and close to a million in Buenos Aires. This fall, the DC Festival with Luis Palau will be on the National Mall in Washington DC: festivals in Madrid, Spain and Mendoza, Argentina collectively drew hundreds of thousands of people early in 2005.

In 2004, Palau led a delegation of American business leaders, athletes and musical artists on a visit to China that focused on U.S. and Chinese adoption procedures and enhanced communication between the two countries' business communities. He will return to China late in 2005 for a series of assemblies and meetings with key leadership.

3. Thanks for the bio
that saved me from clicking on the links. Why be part of the statistics of how many hits they get?

4. No problemo
BTW, are you anywhere near Moorhead? One of my husband's best friends lives in Moorhead. I've only visited once.

:hi:

6. A suburb (sorry) of Minneapolis
We moved here three years ago and the job(s) is (are) in the suburbs so we got a house here. We did not like the rush hour drive in California and here it is even worse.

8. Thanks for the reply
Just wondered. I know some people who moved to the Minneapolis area over the years but have never kept up with them. All of them seemed to love the area, although truthfully, most I knew were here in Kansas for graduate studies and moved back as soon as they could. That speaks well of the city. So far, everyone I've met from there (no matter how long they've been there) has been wondeful. Then again, I have Demdar and I can spot a Dem from at least thirty yards.

Take care!

5. He's from some South American country and has headquarters in
of all places, Beaverton, Oregon, the Bloomington of Oregon.

He does the Billy Graham crusade routine.

7. Thanks. But wasn't there a cry that he was on government grounds
(separation of state and church etc.)?

Or that the strib wasted many trees covering this event?

As I said, I have a vague recollection of the event only because of the reaction.

9. I got one of those calls too.
And I said something like, "Oh, isn't he one of those religious cultist wack jobs? No, I wouldn't have anything to do with him." And that was the end of my survey.

11. I got that call tonight
(must be my week for odd calls). I played along for awhile because I wanted to see where the survey was going. On the positive/negative question I selected the "neutral" option. Then they asked if it was alright if the organization called me, to which I replied, "Good Lord, no." So ended the phone call.

I found it interesting how they stressed the ties to Billy Graham. They even mentioned that Franklin Graham is expected to take over that organization. I wonder if Louis is plotting some kind of coup?
