Personal info when surfing from the library?

[question everything]

I had to kill some time, so decided to spend it in one of Hennepin County libraries, and decided to log on. I had to enter my library card number and the password was the last 4 digits of my phone number. And then a long legalese about the library responsibility, or not, about patrons surfing the Internet to which I had to agree or disagree.

I was on for only 15 minutes and visited only news pages. Still, could not help but wonder whether the Homeland Security office was going to get a report about the pages that I visited.

And I wonder, since I also checked my yahoo email, whether I should change my password, if my clicks generated a memory of it.

...libraries don't, as a rule, store much information for very long.
