KSTP billboards
Edited on Thu May-12-05 02:50 PM by cmutt
Anybody else bothered by channel 5's billboards, prominently displaying Cindy Brucato while having "Breaking the news, not bending it" tag-line? What a pile of BS -> junior FOX News wannabees!

1. "Bringing you the talking points, not investigating them!"

2. Cyndi Brucato is SUCH a hack!
I have never been able to stand her, even back to the 1970s when she was first a news anchor with channel 5.

I find it ironic that her husband (and presumably her also) run a public relations firm that caters to Republicans and their talking points.

Fair and balanced my arse.

4. KSTP is a joke
They'd call somebody passing gas breaking news and they'd be sure to have a reporter on the scene. They send people out to the middle of nowhere just to be on the spot with a live report. Sensationalism at it's most disgusting.

As for Brucato... I can't watch. Too painful. Actually... I don't watch any local (or national) news anymore.

6. They were outside my house one night because of a location down the street
and the 'reporter' (a mannequin with a short skirt) was rehearsing below. Even did a little dance, though with everyone in the neighborhood being able to see her doing that silly jig, one would have to wonder why.

Especially when it was a non-story.

They were here for 25 minutes, on screen for 2, and then they left.

Dumb. dumb. dumb.

7. Have been watching them for the "just the facts" approach
more so than KARE or WCCO - in my mind.

But last week or so were exploiting a reporter, I think, with some kind of illness so I switched.

I think that the best news any of them provide is in the morning. I will always watch the Daily Show over the local news, whether at 6:00 or at 10:00 pm.

Last week they were talking about Bruce Spingsteen and Brucato was trying to tell that he lost a lot of audience that disagreed with his political views. And this was the last that I watched her.

8. The reporter with an illness
was dealing with ovarian cancer. Kristen Stinar, I think her name is. Anyway, she wanted to do the spot to profile that cancer and her treatment, to raise awareness of the disease.

As vile and right-wing as KSTP can be, I don't think they exploited her.

5. Sindy Bruck-cattle? Sheesh, she can't pronounce a damn thing.
The first day she was back she mispronounced someone's name. It was enough for me to get riled at the time, but I forgot the name.

The 2nd day she effed up again.

Haven't watched the walking Revlon advert since.

I miss Harris Faulkner.

9. This one's going back in time a bit,
Edited on Mon May-16-05 10:57 AM by eyepaddle
but does anybody remember when they were introducing "Clear, Concise, CONANGLA!"

The ad was a montage of news-type stuff but the soundtrack was the bridge of Nine Inch Nails' "Heresy." A pretty hard-driving techno metal bit for sure, but the chorus to that song is:

Your God is Dead
and no one cares
if there is a hell
I will see you there

I just knew whoever did the sound editing for that spot just KNEW there was no way the brain wizards at KSTP knew or cared where the music came from. I wonder how KSTP's core audience would've reacted, had they been aware....
