Granholm's weekly for women -- some great points here
As we vacation with family this weekend or enjoy the final days of summer at home, we’re reminded of all the wonders Michigan has to offer: sandy shores, green forests, urban life—our state has it all. We enjoy an unmatched quality of life, and luckily, we have a Governor fighting to ensure we continue to have the opportunities to achieve a good life for our family here in Michigan. Her economic plan is creating jobs and securing a strong future for our children, without sacrificing the things we cherish most.

Her opponent, however, has a different vision for the future of our state. But no matter how much Dick DeVos spends on fancy advertising, he can’t gloss over the truth: He has the wrong plan for our families, and he has the wrong plan for Michigan.

Dick DeVos has the wrong plan for working families: As CEO of Amway, DeVos shipped 1,400 Michigan jobs and millions of dollars in investments to China. He has supported—even lobbied for—outsourcing policies that hurt Michigan most. And as Republican Party Chair, his wife has even said workers in Michigan make too much money.

Dick DeVos has the wrong plan to keep our children safe: Governor Granholm has worked hard to ensure our law enforcement officials have the tools they need to fight crime and keep our children safe where they live, learn and play. Dick DeVos supported repealing Michigan’s tax on corporations without a plan to protect needed resources for public safety programs parents count on to keep their children out of danger.

Dick DeVos has the wrong plan to keep our families healthy: While Governor Granholm is fighting to expand access to affordable health care for all families, DeVos believes our health care system is just “terrific.” His solution for families who can’t access health care? Get a better job.

Dick DeVos has the wrong plan for our environment: DeVos would put corporate profits first, at the expense of our environment. He’s sat on the board of organizations that support drilling in the Great Lakes, and has said he wouldn’t continue the Governor’s efforts to reduce mercury emissions, putting our natural resources—and the health of our children—at risk.

Dick DeVos has the wrong plan to educate our kids: DeVos has proposed slashing hundreds of millions of dollars from education funding. And he has lobbied vigorously for vouchers, which would gut funding from our public schools and put the money back in the pockets of the wealthy.

Dick DeVos has the wrong plan for you: DeVos doesn’t think you should make your own personal medical decisions with your doctor, even in cases of rape and incest. And he opposes life-saving stem cell research that could potentially cure the most debilitating diseases.

Just like you, Governor Granholm is working hard everyday to ensure your family and loved ones are happy, healthy and secure. But unlike DeVos, she has the right plan for Michigan—a plan that puts you and your family first.

You can help by replying to this email and sending the e-mail addresses of 15 women to add to our listserv. This election will be won by a people-to-people campaign—and that campaign starts with you.

-- JoAnne Huls, Granholm for Governor

1. It would be nice if DeVos reduced the average household wealth in Michigan
... by moving out.

This is only about 70% joking ... since the Reich-Wing peddles the policies that make the already-wealthy far wealthier and then claim credit for increasing the 'average' wealth and 'overall' economy - all on the backs of the most impoverished.
