Hey People - Go Do Something
This weekend is, of course, Independence Day weekend. That means parades, Parades, PARADES!!! Go to www.granholmforgov.com and then click on the "Fight Back" link. Here you can sign up to march for our sexy Gov with other Dems. I'm marching in the Curtis parade in the U.P. Hopefully my brother and I won't get too many "boos" from the gun toting maniacs that are sure to be there flaunting their faux-patriotism on this awesome holiday. Anyway, my point is, if you're sick of sitting in a dark room all day blogging (like I often do) come walk for Granholm. I think it really makes a statement when a big group of people stand up for the Gov in this hotly contested election and say that they support her.

2. I'll be in the Clawson parade with Nancy Skinner
I think the Gov is going to be there, too.

5. She may even be in Clawson.
I guess it's a hugh!!!!!! parade.

I went door to door in Clawson handing out flyers this afternoon -- just to Dem or Independent or "Unknown" doors to get her name out before the parade. It's pretty Republican around there, so we didn't have a ton of houses on each of the blocks we got to this afternoon.

Most people weren't home, so we just left the lit in the door, but of those who were, most were cordial, but curt. One older guy said she's got his vote -- he'll vote for any Dem and will put up any Dem lawn signs. The one who really floored me was the 30-ish, good-looking guy who came to the door, took the lit and said "We don't usually vote." I was pretty speechless. I just wanted to shake him and say -- "You fucking idiot! You have no right to complain about anything if you don't vote. I hope you're happy with things the way they are." But I didn't. I just said we need all the support we can get in November and he said he'd think about voting. Yeah, right. Sure he will.

I just don't understand people like that.

7. I wish I had had a comeback at the time,
but I was speechless. Of course, after I left and told Don about it, I came up with all kinds of things I could have said.

8. I read recently
from some construction union GOTV workers that the post election polls showed that the think that was most likely to get non-voters to go to the polls was a face to face conversation with somebody, usually on the jobsite. I'm sure the door to door efforts have a similar effect.
