When President Bush comes to Kalamazoo on Monday, anti-war protesters will be displaying along Interstate 94 a large sign with life-sized silhouettes of casualties of the war in Iraq.

Protesters planned to gather with the big sign and many other signs Monday on high ground between Christ the King Cathedral and the park-and-ride lot at I-94 and Oakland Drive. Kramer said activists didn't know if Bush's motorcade would go anywhere near the site.
Demonstrations were also planned at the United Auto Workers headquarters at 3731 Covington, south of Wings Stadium off Sprinkle. Kramer said a wide variety of protesters were expected, including union members, Democrats and environmental groups.
Sierra Club members said they want to draw attention to what they consider the Bush Administration's failure to protect Michigan's' clean air and water.
Kramer said activists also were exploring the possibility of gathering at the old GM plant on Sprinkle Road, across the street from Wings Stadium.
He said people who want to participate or who want more information about Monday's protest are welcome at Sunday's vigil, which has been held at the federal building every week since fall 2002.
