Ann Arbor people who want to influence my vote, please check in here
I am voting straight D on all the big races, but there are a few non partisan races & proposals I am not knowledgeable about yet. Any thoughts on races or candidates that are important to you? I always like hearing what people here have to say, and I usually favor the most progressive candidates available.

1. I was at the Clinton/Dingell rally
We heard from the 2 Supreme court candidates Alton Thomas Davis and Denise Morris Brown. They were both good, enthusiastic democrats and the mentioned that two remaining democratic judges will age off the court in the next two elections, so they will need to be replaced. Also, one of the Republican judges said racist statements in the courts deliberation room. The judges reminded us to vote for the two Ds, Davis and Denise and they also have the longest names of the candidates.

3. That's Denise Langford Morris, FYI
And yes, it is VERY important that we support Davis and Langford Morris. Look how much the other side is trying to push Young and Kelly.

2. Prop 1, 2, and A
Prop 1 - State Constitutional Convention

I'm voting -NO The partisan divide is to great in the state right now to have a rational discussion about the state constitution (ie - abortion rights, school funding, taxes, etc.)

Prop 2 - Prohibit certain felons from holding elective office and specified types of public employment positions.

I'm voting - YES The language seems to be reasonable and sensible to me.

Prop A (Washtenaw County) Natural Areas Millage Renewal

I'm voting - YES Having lived in the Ann Arbor area for over 20 years I am very appreciative of the efforts to maintain nature for parks and recreation instead of parking lots.

U of M Regent (local interest - plus I'm Alumni)
Voting for Greg Stephens and Paul Brown :kick:

4. I agree with you on the statewide proposals.
Another thing people don't always mention regarding a constitutional convention is that most of the people elected as delegates would be politicians who have already held office. In other words, (a) many of them have been part of the problem (not to impugn ALL of them, but many!), and (b) their main 'qualification' would be that people have heard of them before.

Proposal 2 doesn't go far enough, IMO - I think ALL felons should be barred for office for at least some time. But Prop 2 is an improvement.

6. I voted the same way on Props 1, 2
Prop 1 - the state constitution is a can of worms. Why open it?

Prop 2 - I think this is the "Kwame Kilpatrick Smack-down" proposal. I voted yes.

I'm not in Washtenaw county, so my local proposals were different.

I dropped the absentee ballots at my city clerk's office.
