Poll question: What do MI DUers think about Granholm as a Justice?
And any insights about what she thinks would be appreciated. Church and state, free speech, etc...

3. She's never been a judge, has she?

She backed the wrong horse in the primary, so I don't think
she's in the top 5 on this.

AND...

Enough with the Catholic thing, it has
me worried about Roe v. Wade.

On edit:

5. If she doesn't get picked...

I doubt it has anything to do with backing "the wrong horse in the primary." Obama doesn't seem like he would to hold a grudge over that.

Being Catholic shouldn't be an issue. I don't believe Granholm has ever done anything to indicate that she won't support Roe v. Wade. She vetoed "partial birth abortion" twice as governor which didn't please Catholics

"Michigan Catholic Conference Vice President for Public Policy Paul Long told LifeNews.com that Governor Granholm showed continued indifference to human life" with her latest veto."

She also supports stem-cell research. I don't believe she would allow her religion to effect her legal views.

She would be a great choice...I hope Obama picks her.

6. There are far, far too many Catholics on the Supreme Court.
It's a huge problem. I hope to God Obama looks elsewhere.

7. The president should base his nominations on competence &
legal vision that's in harmony with his own.

IMHO, any diversity should be secondary.

8. In harmony with his nation, not his own.
And Gov. Granholm is not what I would like for a Supreme Court Justice. Because Catholicism is big on the morals/values/judging people thing (I say this as a Catholic), religious diversity is key on our nation's highest court. It is still We, the People...for the moment at least. :hi:

9. We're more in agreement than how it sounds here.
You're right, too many Catholics are not good. Too many of one thing on the Court is not a good representation of our country. Yet, I don't want the president's choices cut at the knees, either.

I believe that the legal vision that reflect Obama's vision is trustworthy. While I agree it should reflect, 'we, the people', the question rises, which 'we, the people'? Neither of us like the RW vision. So again, I have to trust the prez - even though I'd be more inclined to choose someone more liberal.

I'm Catholic too, and personally, I'd like to see an atheist on the court. Shoot, I would like to see an openly gay justice.

10. I totally don't want to see Obama's choice cut down either.
Even though we know that the Republicans will have a problem with anyone he chooses. :)
So, I figure, since it's going to be a fight, we should really make it worth it. :D

13. Why not Ralph Nader?
Obama is too much of a corporate puke for that name to fly.
