Obama to Host Town Hall Meeting in Oakland County

Democratic party officials were scouting Oakland County locations, possibly in Troy, for a town hall meeting with presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama on Monday.

The trip to Michigan will be the second for Obama in the last three weeks after not appearing in the state for nearly a year.

It will also come on the heels of a Saturday meeting of the Democratic National Committee dealing with the delegate mess facing Michigan and Florida.

Damn! I was hoping for a big rally. Town halls are much harder to get into.

2. That would be nice
but it's typically hard to get into town halls -- they're usually by invitation to a small group only. I'm still hoping for a rally.

ELECTION 2008

Obama to hold town hall Monday at Troy High

By TODD SPANGLER • FREE PRESS WASHINGTON STAFF • May 30, 2008

WASHINGTON – Days after a key meeting in Washington to decide how to seat Michigan’s delegates, Democratic presidential front-runner Barack Obama will hold a town hall meeting at Troy High School on Monday afternoon.

The campaign says the town hall will be held in the main gymnasium at the school beginning at 12:15 p.m. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.

The event is free and open to the public but tickets will be required. In order to get a ticket interested people must go to the Oakland County Democratic Party’s office at 515 S. Lafayette Ave, Suite C, in Royal Oak. Tickets will be available at that location from Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Troy High School is located at 4777 Northfield Parkway in Troy. For security reasons, bags and umbrellas will not be allowed and nor will signs or banners.

4. Thanks so much for posting, Bozita
I'll be there! I'm taking the day off work.

I'll be picking up tickets in Royal Oak bright and early tomorrow. I just spoke to someone at the OCDP office and they don't even have the tickets in their hands yet.

:woohoo:

I'm soooooooo excited!

11. I got my tickets this morning!
Hopefully you got yours -- I have a feeling they'll be gone by noon or so, but who knows. I seriously doubt there will be any left for tomorrow. They're limiting everyone to two tickets.

Hope to see you Monday!

:hi:

6. I'm so psyched!
I will be there for tix in the morning! I don't have to work on Monday, and I am going to pull my 8yr old out of school for this, because he's really into politics/government, and it will be a great - and memorable - experience for him. I can't wait!
:woohoo:

13. I'm hearing rumors that Governor Granholm will be there and endorsing Obama ...???
Is there any truth in that? She's DLC ... and currently a superdelegate without a vote (Michigan disenfranchisement) who has previously endorsed Clinton???

Who knows something about this?? Anyone?

14. That sounds pretty strange
Unless this is all over today after the meeting. Carl is speaking now.

Did you get tickets? They're all gone now. I knew they wouldn't last until noon. My friend called me after she went to try to get them when I couldn't get more than two and said they were gone already.

15. Nope ... no tickets. Just now hearing about it.
I wouldn't be able to get there anyway. Caregiver duties and all that ... makes such a prolonged (10am to ?) departure a bit problematic. (I deal with some difficult idiosyncratic behaviors.)

16. I was wondering...
how long the tickets lasted. I got there at 8:15am, and the line was already around the building and down the block! I can't wait to see Obama!!
