Longtime Labor advocate and activist, Douglas Fraser dies and nary a word to be found on it on DU:

I'll admit I didn't do a search but one would think this would be on page one of LBN and GD. Nope. But Britney Spears did - in GD anyway.

RIP, Doug, and thank you.

On edit: I did find a thread in LBN but the last response was 3:17a and there were only six replies. What this man did for workers was epic and I, for one, will miss him.

1. Rest in Peace Mr. Fraser
He was one of the icons of the labor unions. I think we take for granted all the work that was done for the benefits of the workers and for everyone else for that matter. Thank you Doug Fraser.

5. There was a thread in LBN....
I was sad to read that he had died.
His face was a fixture of the evening news
when I was a kid....

6. I met him once.

You see, our neighbor in the sub I grew up in was a plant manager at Ford Wixom. (He was called Mac by workers and management alike. And there is a great story about when he got pulled over with a live turkey in one of the Lincolns he would test drive, and then recruiting my dad to help him catch it as it ran loose in the garage the next day.) Anyway, I met Fraser at Mac's funeral. Mac had respect from both union and management alike, and the funeral home in Farmington Hills was packed that day back in the late 1980's.
