Bring Our Troops Home Now: a State-wide Campaign to End the US War in Iraq
Dear Friends and members of PDA MA,

The Massachusetts state-wide Bring Our National Guard Home Campaign collected the signatures of more than 30,000 Massachusetts registered voters in an attempt to put a law requiring the return of the Mass. National Guard from Iraq on the ballot. Athough we didn't collect enough signatures to achieve our goal, we did again confirm that there is widespread sentiment against the war among MA voters. Now is the time to plan our next steps. How do we build on the work already done and galvanize maximum pressure to bring the troops home?

Bring Our Troops Home Now: a State-wide Campaign to End the US War in Iraq
Organizing Meeting -- January 14, 2005 - Worcester Age Center
(799 W. Boylston Street. - Mass. Pike to I-290E to I-190N to Rte 12N which is W. Boylston St).
Please join us at this organizing meeting to evaluate, strategize, plan and layout next steps for a state-wide campaign to bring the troops home from Iraq and end the war!

PDA would like to invite you to an evaluation/strategy meeting on Saturday, January 14 in Worcester where we will look at our strengths and weaknesses during the National Guard petition campaign and decide on the next steps to take for our state-wide campaign to end the war in Iraq. The political landscape on the war has shifted in important ways since we began our ballot initiative campaign and we need to adapt our campaign to these new realities and take advantage of some new openings.

We will devise new strategies to bring our message about the war into cities and towns across the state such as: developing new strategic messages,

considering town meeting resolutions and non-binding ballot initiatives,

bird-dogging our congressmen,

putting pressure on the State legislature to hold hearings on the war's impact on Massachusetts,

supporting progressive Congressional legislation.

Please join us. We'd love to see you there. (Anyone sure they will attend please call Bruce Taub at 617-529-7129). Together we can make a change.

Bruce Taub - PDA MA State Coordinator
