Or bus rental...

Who wants to go? I'll check into the details if it sounds like
we could get a good group together.

Edited on Thu Jun-30-05 08:54 AM by rox63
I've just decided to go down there for the protests. And I'd definitely consider joining a Northern Peace Train. (or bus) :hi:

15. This one
Here's the hotel I booked a room at: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/pc/1/en/hd/WASSM

I was pointed towards that hotel by some folks who are organizing the Southern Peace Train, which is heading to DC from New Orleans. The Louisiana Activist Network is using it as their base of operations. I know a couple of their organizers from another forum I post on. You can find out more about them at this site: http://www.newdemocracyrising.com/

Try the Youth Hostel, it's on NW 14th St (?), about 5 blocks from the White house.

I stayed there a few years ago, the neighborhood was margainal, but the facility was clean and well kept.

11. Here is a Bus site I'm checking out
I've never organized a trip like this so, if you've ever had experience I'll gladly accept advice.

http://www.busrates.com/charter_bus_tips_info.php

Looks like we would need to get 50-60 to commit and make the price feasible. The Hostel is a great idea Paine. September is bearing down on us fast.

Need a list of Definates. Request the time off now.
I'd like to finalize plans by end of July.

Not sure if just securing a Boston to DC bus fare from say South Station on a particular day would be better, but it would be so much fun to have a pre-rally rally on a bus together.

13. Looks like Amtrack costs about $120 round trip to DC
Cheapest flight I've found so far is United's $138 round trip

Chartering a bus if we could 50 peeps could be about $50 a head

16. Amtrak northeast train routes
Check 'em out: http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/Page/Browse_Routes_Page&c=Page&cid=1081256321410&ssid=134

I like the idea of a bunch of us taking the train, picking up people along the way, so we can meet up and talk as we travel.
