Know who is working AGAINST same-sex marriage in MA . . .
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 11:56 PM by TaleWgnDg
.

Know who is working AGAINST same-sex marriage in the halls of our statehouse and elsewhere:
L to R, conferring inside the MA Statehouse during the 2004 Massachusetts Constitutional Convention whether to amend the MA state constitution against same-sex marriage and removing other benefits and privileges from homosexuals in Massachusetts:

(1) MA Representative Philip Travis (.pdf format, Adobe Reader necessary), Democrat, of Rehoboth, MA, (religious affiliation: "Christian") chief sponsor of the 2004 anti-gay MA amendment, and who has opposed same-sex marriage as a party to many MA and federal lawsuits, and who has co-sponsored a bill to remove the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court justices who authored (or concurred in) the Goodridge opinion allowing same-sex marriage in Massachusetts;
(2) MA Representative Mark J. Carron, Democrat, of Southbridge, MA, (a Roman Catholic and Third Degree, Knights of Columbus) who votes anti-gay (anything), co-sponsor of Travis' 2004 anti-gay MA amendment, and who has worked with Brian Camenker of Article 8 Alliance to remove the MA Supreme Judicial Court justices who authored (or concurred in) the Goodridge opinion allowing same-sex marriage in MA, and who has been a party (.pdf format, Adobe Reader necessary) to the litigation AGAINST same-sex marriage in both state and federal courts including the U.S. Supreme Court;
(3) Attorney Daniel Avila who is a paid lobbyist (client #950462) at the statehouse and elsewhere for the Massachusetts Catholic Conference (which is an organization of the Archdiocese of Boston headed by Archbishop of Boston, Most Rev. Seán Patrick O'Malley, OFM Cap, of the Roman Catholic Church) that is active in anti-gay issues, anti-abortion issues, anti-right-to-die-with-dignity issues, anti-stem cell research issues, anti-contraception issues, abstinence-only sex education in public schools, and other Roman Catholic Church related religious issues; and
(4) Reverend Ron Crews, Republican, of Ashland, MA, a fundamentalist preacher, a carpet-bagger from Georgia who is a paid lobbyist (#1367) for the "Massachusetts Family Institute, Inc." (MA corporate ID #043113783) a hate-mongering and gay-bashing religion-into-law fundamentalist organization and as former president of "Massachusetts Family Institute, Inc." filed an amicus brief against same-sex marriage and against same-sex civil unions with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in the Goodridge case, who as a Georgia state representative pushed for Creationism being taught in Georgia public schools and abstinence-only "sex education" in Georgia public schools, and a statutory redefinition of marriage as only for one man and one woman, and who recently ran unsuccessfully against incumbent U.S. Representative James McGovern, Democrat, Worcester. For perusing amici brief, e.g., Massachusetts Family Institute, Inc., as filed in Goodridge, go to: http://www.mlgba.org/briefs/AmicusIssue.PDF (.pdf format, Adobe Reader necessary).

3. Massachusetts has two kinds of Democrats . . .
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 11:54 PM by TaleWgnDg
1.) Those that are true Democrats,

2.) And those wishing to be Republicans.

Number 2 (above) won't jump party from Dem to Repub b/c they'd lose their elected office in doing so. We, in Massachusetts, won't elect the Republicans to our legislative body. Or hardly, anyway.

However, we do elect strange ppl as our Governor, at times. For example, Mitt Romney, Republican, a religion-into-law Mormon, who cannot get past placing his religious tenets into our laws, or attempted efforts of doing so.

6. I always thought MA was a GOP practice run to game the machines for 04
I think they Diebolded/E-Systems'd us. I really do. Out in Western MA, especially.

I could understand Weld, easily. I could understand most of them going back to Volpe and Sergeant. But Romney? Who can STAND that putz?? That scandal with the resident tax break in Utah should have sunk his ass,

He went on that lameass tour of the state, like he's Prince William visiting the natives, wearing 'costumes' for the various jobs he did, hell, he looked like all of the Village People...the high waisted jeans and the construction worker hat in the Merrimack Valley were gutbustingly funny--he looked like a total ditz.

And those campaign ADS...with the Cape Cod church in the background, give me a fucking break.

We need to send that cahpitbaggah home to Yew-tahh!

Hey, MADem, quit picking my brain, huh? Sheesh, I felt as if I . . . had written what you did in your post #6. All except the Diebold thing, that is.

BTW, did you hear the latest about Bill Weld? He, once again, is tossing out the *trial balloon* in attempts to find out the possibilities of running for governor of New York. It's been reported that if Pataki and Guiliani don't run, then Bill will. What a riot!

. . .

8. I saw that!!
Bill dumped his wife after he got dissed for the ambassadorship and bought himself digs in NYC. He has apparently cut a fairly wide swathe in the intervening years--he will have to hope no one kisses and tells. I would be surprised if they run him, he's only one divorce shy of Rudy...but it could very well happen, if they can't FIND anyone else. The good news is, they'll have to stop calling Hillary a carpetbagger if they do run him!!!!

9. How funny can it get?
1.) The ex-governor of Massachusetts runs for Gov of New York,
2.) A Medford, Massachusetts native including Medford High School graduate class of '59 is the mayor of NYC (Mike Bloomberg) !!!

Too funny.

10. I guess the secret is out
It's all a plan by Ted Kennedy and John Kerry, see...they program these people in their secret lab, send them out into the world masquerading as Republicans, and have them take over major population centers. Then, when the moment is right, they'll flip a switch and their poli-bots will spring into action....and the Democratic Senatorial Delegation from Massachusetts will...RULE THE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORLD!!!!

Silly, but if Weld runs, it would not surprise me if some far-righter doesn't postulate that very theory!!!

4. Their weak spot is between their legs.
I was in the elevator with Ron Crews last year during the Con Con. What a creepy dude. My gaydar was off the charts. Crews is a huge closet case. Someone needs to catch him with his pants down!

5. It'll happen, it always does
That is the problem with people in the closet. The minute they stick their beak in on an issue that impacts the community they belong to, yet deny, they always end up in a world of hurt, of their own making.

One can only hope it will happen sooner rather than later!

15. Hmmm...
The only one there I've heard of is Mr. Ron Crews, and that's because McGovern buried his sorry ass in the U.S. Rep election.
