UPDATED (AP) -- Two recent polls suggest that Governor Romney has some housekeeping to take care of before he considers a run for the presidency.
The polls show Romney's popularity among Massachusetts voters is slipping.
One survey conducted over the past two weeks by the Center for Public Opinion Research at Merrimack College in conjunction with The Eagle-Tribune newspaper shows that only 43 percent approve of how Romney is handling his job as governor. That's down from a 56 percent approval rating in early February.
In a poll conducted by U-Mass-Lowell in conjunction with W-B-Z, only 33 percent of those surveyed thought Romney deserved to be re-elected in 2006. That was down from 43 percent in late January.
