Did anyone watch the gubanatorial debate tonight?
I thought Patrick did very well. I absolutely loved it when he said he sees government as helping people. (I think he said that twice.) I think it's important for people to know that he believes that, and it also happens to be what I believe. After all, it is supposed to be government of the people, by the people, for the people. Baker said he wanted to bring common sense from business to the government. Sorry, but government is not a business and should not be run like a business; businesses don't give a shit about people. I'd say that those two remarks showed the contrast between the Democratic and the Republican candidates, and between the philosophies of the parties.

1. i did. well said, Kat45. i loved that too!!
he said similar in his post-debate email:
"I just finished the debate and it was clear again tonight that we are fighting for a very different set of values from the other candidates...."

i just wish we'd had a stop watch and timed it, since it seemed to me like the baker hour, what with that so-called moderator and all. what'd you think about the time thing?

solidarity!

2. I tuned in and out.
I love watching Charlie Baker start to turn red with anger whenever anyone raises his past performance records. When the story came out bout just how involved he was with Big Dig financial decisions, he all but said he had nothing to do about any of that. He almost had himself convinced that he was never even there during the Big Dig. Ilove it when they Cahill brought up the property tax issue. I did feel bad for Jill Stein. She should have walked out during the debate. Maybe the media and candidates would then have to pay attention to her. The media would have loved a story about a candidate walking off the stage. Sad, but true that this is what it has come to to get attention. Patick was as cool as ever and clearly looked like a governor to re-elect.
