Edited on Fri Sep-03-10 09:32 AM by Ian David
BROCKTON, Mass. -- Police in Brockton are searching a male suspect in connection with a bank robbery.

The man reportedly held up the Webster Bank on Belmont Street on Monday.

As he fled the scene, he dropped the stolen cash. When officers arrived, they found money scattered across the bank's parking lot.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact police.

BROCKTON —

<snip>

Police were seeking a man who robbed the Community Bank at 276 Quincy St. earlier in the day.

State police described him as white, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers, and said he was believed to be carrying a black handgun.

Police suspended the search by 5 p.m., after 20 Brockton officers, 15 state troopers and six dogs searched a densely wooded area, Brockton police Lt. Robert Sergio said.

One of the dogs bit officer Robert Grayson, who required treatment for minor injuries at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, Sergio said.

“Several officers had abrasions and cuts from the thick brush. Their uniforms were destroyed,” Sergio said. “It was actually extremely dangerous conditions for the canines.”
