Twin, 4, dies in Brockton pool tragedy as sister clings to life

A 4-year-old Brockton girl died and her twin sister is clinging to life after a tragic incident in the family’s pool, according to authorities.

Emergency responders were called to a Brockton home yesterday morning for a call of an apparent drowning, said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz. The twins were taken to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital and resuscitated before being transported to Boston Children’s Hospital, according to Signature Healthcare spokesperson Rachel Labas.

“They were both in critical condition,” said Labas, “One was taken by medical helicopter, and the other was taken by ambulance.”

The tragedy grimly echoed another family nightmare earlier this summer: On July 17, the bodies of 2-year-old twins Veronica and Angelina Andreottola were found floating in their family’s Lynnfield swimming pool. No foul play is suspected in the girls’ deaths.

in Mass this summer. TWO too many! Four children, 3 dead, the fourth, I'm not sure about any more.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why parents of children this age do not do their job as parents, keep the child within one's sight or within one's hearing ( or within sight or hearing of a caretaker) at ALL times before they get to school age.

A minute or two is all it takes, I know. But that's what being a parent of preschool age kids means.
