A Good Day at the State Democratic Convention Saturday
I was a delegate to the convention, and though it was a long day, all was good. There was a wonderful tribute to Ted Kennedy, which included John Kerry and Paul Kirk as well as a speech by Victoria Reggie Kennedy. Upon accepting the party's nomination for governor, Deval Patrick gave an excellent speech; I didn't realize he gave such good speeches. His organization was quite active in recruiting people to work for his campaign. (I ended up agreeing to make phone calls, which is something that I hate doing.) All of the candidates for treasurer and auditor got enough votes to be on the primary ballot, and Steve Grossman got enough votes to get our endorsement for treasurer. And it was very cool that I got to meet a DUer, bluescribbler, at the Markey breakfast. I don't know if any other DUers were delegates; I hope so.
