Dan Rae, ex-TV weekend weatherman or something, has a gig on WBZ radio, and apparently in his obsession to become the next Howie Carr has invented a controversy that's been picked up by his idols at FOX "News". Evidently on election day some scouts wanted to have boxes for donations to the troops placed inside polling places in Cambridge (The "People's Republic of Cambridge" as the oh-so-original Rae enjoys giggling.) Well someone looked at the law and said "no". So Rea goes on his radio program last night having a hissy fit about how the "People's Republic of Cambridge" hates the troops, hates the Boy Scouts, hates America, microwaves kittens, and so forth. I heard some of that last night, as I had my radio tuned to 'BZ for the traffic and it was still tuned to 1030 when I ran an errand later that night. And boy-o, was he ever spiting and sneering and sputtering and screaming at the one person who called in to say 'hey Dan, it's probably against the law'. As luck would it, I just channel surfed past FOX on the TV and lo! there he was, wearing rouge and lipstick, as the news bimbo pretended to share his shock at how hateful the commies, baby killers, and terrorists of Cambridge are.
No facts were given last night or this afternoon, just faux outrage and pretend patriotism.
All I can say is with friends like Dan Rae, our troops are in deeper shit than we thought.

edit: by the way, in the best Bill "loofa" O'Reilly style, Rea was giving out the names of Cambridge officials for his listener(s) to telephone with their outrage.
