MEET-UP IDEA
http://www.newenglandunited.org/

"On Saturday, October 27th, people from all walks of life will gather in Boston for a massive New England regional demonstration, part of a nationally coordinated day of protest against the war in Iraq called by United for Peace and Justice. Regional demonstrations will be held in 10 cities around the country. The New England event will start with a rally at the Boston Common bandstand starting at Noon, followed by a march to Copley Square from 2:00 to 3:00 PM."

Feels like a no-brainer to me. :)

I have a decent idea that'll need some help from the weather. Let's meet at Bukowski Tavern arond 1pm. There's a parking garage literally attached to the bar, so anyone driving in can park easily without having to slog through downtown traffic, and it's also a block away from a Pike exit. Plus, there's an Orange Line station not far away (Mass. Ave station), and a Green line staion within sight (Heinz Convention station) for anyone who'll be taking the train. I can give directions to anyone who needs them.

We can walk down Boylston to the rally site (maybe 20 minutes), walk back afterwards, and hang out at Buk's for a while. It's has beer and wine only, is cash only, and has pretty decent food with some vegetarian options.

Thoughts?

1. That (kinda) works for me.
I'm with the VFP & we'll be busy before and during the parade. Are you thinking of a few pops afterward? Interested in having some vets join us? Unfortunately, we're somewhat LOUD.

I'd also like to extend an invitation for you (all) to walk with the IVAW & VFP.

8. I'll try.
My job was trying to get me to work that day but I made some very high demands. Unless they actually meet them I should be there.

17. Hey were you with the VFP Sept 15th in DC?
I was a monitor next to the VFP guys during the march and die in and I have to say I was so damned impressed with all of you. I would truly love to march with you and so would my daughter. My brother landed in VA last Wednesday from Iraq (Navy Commander-Reserves)

19. I will!
He's just finishing up being debriefed and getting medically cleared and then he is going to hide out in a cabin with his wife and 6 kids ( they are mostly a mess, one is only a few months old) for a couple weeks and then hopefully I get a chance to welcome him home. He will be here in Boston for Thanksgiving so we are really thrilled.

I'd rather go to the march and then rest my tired feet and weary bones afterwards.

20. Hynes station.
Out of the station and left down Mass ave. Left onto Boylston. When you get to Dillions at the light, cross the street and go down Dalton. Buk's is the first bar on the right after the bridge, unber the garage.

21. Can we get a confirmed time and place to meet please?
I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys. I was helping the organizers at the 9.15 DC march and didn't get a chance to meet the DU crew there.

Also a way to recognize the group would help!

22. How about we meet near the bandstand on the Common around noonish?
We should be able to find plenty (relatively speaking) of room at the rear of of the bandstand.

I have your picture so I can find you. What about dinner somewhere afterwards? The pub Will was talking about perhaps? If so I will park at that garage. Otherwise I'll take the train from Attleboro.

26. Maybe we can all meet at/go to Bukowski's after.
Then we can hang out, have a couple of beers, maybe something to eat--have a DU good time. That will also give us two chances to all find each other; you know how it is when you plan to meet folks at a large event, no matter how good the plans may be, people inevitably miss each other.

32. How about we go to 'The Green Dragon' ~ "Headquarters of the Revolution"?
'The Green Dragon' ~ "Headquarters of the Revolution"

11 Marshall Street, Boston MA 02108 (Government Center T stop)

Hailed as "Headquarters of the American Revolution" the Green Dragon Tavern was a favorite
for Paul Revere and the Sons of Liberty. The Green Dragon Tavern is a comfortable place with
a real European atmosphere, cheap eats and 20 imported beers. In the restaurant lunch and
dinner favorites include toppling sandwiches, burgers and traditional Irish Fare. Irish Breakfast
is served every Saturday from 11am to 4pm. At the bar enjoy hearty bar food, like cheese nachos,
Mohawk trail chicken fingers and red coat spicey buffalo wings.

There are live bands at the Green Dragon Tavern, Wednesdays through Saturdays and Irish tunes
in-between. Hailed as a "hotbed" meeting place by it's founding fathers, the Green Dragon Tavern
continues that tradition today. It is a homey bar that caters to a casual crowd. But don't be surprised
if you rub shoulders with Caroline Kennedy, the Boston Bruins or a famous celebrity in town.

Live Irish entertainment every Saturday afternoon.

Open seven days a week, 11.00am to 2.00am
Lunch is served from 11.00am to 3.00pm
Dinner is served from 3.00pm to 9.00pm
Full menu served all day at the bar.
