Apt. Renters have no rights in Maryland.
I live in Bethesda-Chevy Chase and recently found out that a woman in my building with an identical apt. is paying MORE rent than I despite having lived here ten years longer than I have. Other neighbors in the same size apt. who are new are paying $400 more than I because I've lived here ten years. This is legal.

There is NO RENT CONTROL in Maryland. After ten years of increases no greater than that "suggested" by the state, my rent increase was doubled this year.

I'm told that it's expected that you'll 'bargain' for a better rent and lower rent increases. That's a system that works against major apt.-renting constituencies.
