Baltimore Sun Columnist, Michael Olesker, Resigns Over Plagiarism Charges
Michael Olesker, a columnist for 27 years at The Sun, resigned yesterday amid allegations that he had used sentences and paragraphs from other newspapers in some of his columns without attribution.
….
The most recent allegations against Olesker came in an e-mail to The Sun yesterday morning from Gadi Dechter, a media reporter at the Baltimore City Paper, an alternative weekly. Dechter and a research assistant, Anne Howard, had pored over Olesker’s work published during the past two years or so and discovered several instances in which he had apparently appropriated the work of fellow journalists not only at The Sun but at The New York Times and The Washington Post.

1. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy ........
A very close friend of mine had a very high management job at the Sun. This person told me stories about this guy that would make your hair stand up.

An ego with feet. On steroids.

A real 'carry my bag for me, you peon' type of person.

Disprespectful to his core.

I haven't missed his being on teevee and I will miss even less his absence from the paper.

I don't care what anyone's politics are. If they're an asshole, they're an asshole.

He's an asshole.

No, I really don't like him. I like his politics. I like his views (mostly). I like that he wasn't afraid to fight for the correct side when that seemed the right thing to do.

But through all of that, he's, in my mind, what I said he is. And that diminishes everything else to near insignificance.

On edit ....... I'm not sure this was a case of political payback. He was outted by a person from the City Paper ..... hardly a bastion of Ehrlichanism.

But ..... in today's environment .... who can say for sure?

2. Heartsick of this - One big POLITICAL Ehrlich Play Here.
Agree with other poster, couldn't have happened to a nicer person and he was seriously close to 30 years in.

He has a lot of supporters. Know of not 1 person that has a bad word for Michael Olesker. Hope he re-merges. We need him in Maryland.
