In this day and age
Edited on Wed Nov-02-11 10:33 AM by luckyleftyme2
picked this up in another forum and wondered what planet the author was from.
Why is there any such thing as the “Congressional Black Caucus”? Its defenders purport that it exists to advance the interests of black people. This, however, begs the question: are the interests of black people any different than the interests of any other people in America? If they are, then we have a problem.

Undeniably, black people were discriminated against in our history. That organizations like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) came into existence to fight that is understandable, but it was outlawed forty-five years ago - two generations ago. If it still exists anywhere in America, it can be prosecuted. To those who claim it does, I ask: Where? Show me. If discrimination doesn’t exist, we get back to the original question: Why is there any such thing as the Congressional Black Caucus?

Thats like telling a guy from washington county thats over 50 that there never has been discrimination against native americans in maine-that a native american who got a decent job say like in the paper mill was never shunned or ridiculed! That if you married a native american girl you would bring shame to your family.
Like I said I don't know what planet this guy is living on but I can tell you if its that guy I think it is discrimination is alive and well in his area.
yup how's those Jamaicans making out-hmmm seems there has been a couple incidents in the paper you have a column in sir(and I use that term loosely)
Of course people like you choose to ignore the facts and choose to be heard because you know your superior knowledge circumvents anything dealing with facts that are not to your liking.
Obviously you have spent little time south of the mason/dixie line or know anyone that has lived there for a few years.
true racism is not what it was in the 50's and 60's when I lived in texas andLouisianaa but it is still there. Nor is racism like it was in the 40's when I lived in washington county. many is the time I heard family members speak badly of the native americans,or my friends parents. I'm afraid it is a trait we humans have that festers
beneath the surface. hatred is like a disease in my life time I have seen in Maine english versus french, french deliberately spoken when they knew an english boy could not understand them, slavish sister ignored because she married a french boy,an american girl shunned by her family because she married a canadian boy,a clerk ask you in french if she could help you and if you answered in english she went to the next customer.(that was in woolworths in 1944 in brunswick ,maine.)
So I find this person either very immature or completely out of his mind!
no I do not condone racism or any kind of ethnic degradation, nor have I ever. I fought it in Alabama when our military transport was forced to land because of weather and they told the colored troops they would not be allowed in lounge. and 65 of us got up and said then we will all leave! that was nov of 1958 and they served us all!
as much as I dislike it I'm not fool enough to think it does not exist!
