Two steps backward for the great State of Maine.

Hopefully the Senate will have more sense but I don't hold a lot of hope.

6. Voter fraud
Presumably none of you have sat in coffee shops on Maine Street in Brunswick and heard Bowdoin students boast about how they voted "early and often" in Brunswick, Freeport, and Bath all on the same day, thanks to Maine's lax voter registration laws. Or heard UMaine students talking about voting both in their hometowns and in the Orono elections. Yes, they've been reported, and no, nothing was ever done about it. Or perhaps none of you ever noticed how efforts to update and cleanse voter registration lists found people who had died years before but somehow still managed to send in absentee ballots. Do you really think voter fraud is limited to Chicago?

7. Funny, I sat in the same coffeeshops and heard Republicans
Edited on Mon Jun-13-11 05:40 PM by Old and In the Way
trying to figure out ways to suppress voters from exercising their Constitutional Rights and keep themselves in power.

Give me a break...we're lucky to get college students to bother to vote once, let alone multiple times. Voter fraud is a myth that's perpetuated by Republicans to cover their needs to depress voter turnout or outright commit election fraud. The demographics just aren't going to be kind to republicans as their "base" dies out and most sane Americans realize that their agenda is to gut the Middle Class.

Share with us 6 documented cases of this happening....not what you and your Republicans friends are pretending to hear as you BS each other with these unsubstantiated stories. You can't because there is such a thing as voter rolls and most poll workers I know take their job seriously. And you know what? If this actually occurred, I'd give you very favorable odds that these college kids were members in good standing of the CRNC. Karl Rove likes College Republicans who show initiative.

8. Try again, dude
Wow, way to respond intelligently -- do you ad hominem everyone who disagrees with you? I've been a Democrat all my life and have the framed Obama Inauguration invitation and the bumper sticker on my Prius to prove it. I was the one sitting in the coffee shop in Brunswick listening to the boasting -- and no, they weren't Rovebots. Just the opposite, sad to say. I tried to get someone to respond to it, and nothing, absolutely nothing, happened as a result. If you really think voter fraud isn't a problem, your naiveté probably extends to tooth fairies and Easter bunnies, too.

9. lol....sure...I'll bet you eat granola and wear your Birkenstorks to PETA events, too!
Edited on Mon Jun-13-11 09:46 PM by Old and In the Way
Damn college Democrats...always committing those multiple voting crimes.

Oh, I almost forget...where's your proof? Give us a cite for your BS observation. And "reports" by partisan Republican operatives don't count.

13. Gee, I'm sorry
about your reading comprehension problem. What part of "I saw it myself" do you not understand? And if you go back in the archives here, you'll see from my posting history what my interests are and how I stand on various issues. You'll also see that my involvement with the Democratic Party goes back to 1964 when I was a Young Democrat here in Maine working on the Johnson campaign. BTW, I don't eat granola and PETA gives me heartburn. But my wife wears Birkenstocks sometimes. Does that count?

2. all we can expect

This administration is definitely demonstrating why we are the tail pipe of the nation!
soon more wal-marts will supersize and more mardens will appear. the end result will be low paying part time jobs with no Benny's. and we all know that when the work force is broke
there is more money for all!(what stupid thinking)
Next will be the absentee ballots, more tax breaks for the wealthy and fewer entity's to suck up the tax money. just the way the other party wants it!

4. I hope this will backfire.
It's the Maine rednecks who vote repub, and they are least likely to have ID or any freaking idea about getting registered.
