Fire officials are tying to figure out what caused a fire that destroyed a controversial topless coffee shop in Vassalboro. The Grand View Topless Coffee Shop was gutted by a blaze that was reported early this morning. The building was also home to the shop's owner, Donald Crabtree. He and six other people living in the building escaped unharmed, according to the Portland Press Herald.

The fire broke out just hours after Crabtree had met with local officials about his latest proposal -- to add music and dancing to the club. Crabtree told the paper that he's spent $277,000 on the building, a former motel. He says it was not insured.
