Shameless plug for a great Maine microbrwery.
Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 08:23 PM by Old and In the Way
If you like beer (and who doesn't?), you really need to introduce your taste buds to Oak Pond Brewery crafted beers. Hmmmmm...hmmm. Good. OPB is in Canaan Maine (off Rte 2)....a good buddy of mine is the owner/brewmaster. I've drunk a lotta beers in a lotta different places in my life, but the Brown Nut Ale is to die for.

Sadly...I just drained the last of my Growler. :-(

1. Canaan is a little out of my way, but I'll see if I can't get a jug at the local beer emporium.
So many great Maine beers.

3. Where in Canaan?
I get to Skowhegan fairly often and can zip over to Canaan fairly easily.

5. take the newport exit

either take the newport exit take your first left after irvings truck stop and your on your way. about 6 miles before you hit skowhegan on rte#2
or get off in fairfield take the hinckley skowhegan exit off rte#95. watch for the rt# 23 in hinckley this will swing you on to rte#2 just a short dist. from cannan. swing right on
rte#2 and stop at the first business for directions to the brewery.
skucks I'm on the wagon or I'd have you bring me a few.
hope this helped you. at first I wasn't sure you could get there from portland.

6. There's an Irvings in Canaan.
Go past Irvings about 2 miles (going towards Skowhegan). You'll see a small sign for the Brewery...the road is on the Left. On the corner there's a run-down store of some kind. Go down the road for a 1/2-3/4 mile and you'll see some commercial buildings on the right...that'd be the place.

8. I know that Irving's
There's a DDs there too. :)

I'd be coming from Skowhegan so I'll backtrack.

Thanks. We'll have to make a visit there. My husband loves local microbrews.

Thank you!

4. no one around here has it
is there a way that he can contact Bootlegger's in Topsham to see if they will sell it? My husband would try it out. I don't drink beer.
