the end of an era
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 11:08 AM by luckyleftyme2
the last one of several generations is retiring from the GP mill in woodland/baileyville.
my great grandfather was the superintendent of the pulp and paper mill.they also ran a boarding house which housed workers.(many of them immigrants)
I worked on the design and later the reconstruction of the mill in the late 50's.being the third generation in my family to do so.
Our family is now spread over the state and country like so many others. once paper makers, fisherman and sea captains. now expanded to engineers, lawyers, doctors, real estate,bio-chemists and bankers.(I forgot law enforcement and judges)
In three generations on the american side we have moved from washington county to washington state, texas, florida, georgia, new york,Pennsylvania,New Jersey, calif and Mass.
Will this erode our family roots? or will the trend go back to staying put return?
Talking to friends I find this is happening to many families.
