Protesters arrested at Rep. Allen's office

The Associated Press September 26, 2007

Police arrested several protesters on criminal trespassing charges after a sit-in Tuesday at the Exchange Street office of U.S. Rep. Tom Allen, D-1st District.

The group was part of a larger demonstration urging members of the House of Representatives to impeach President Bush. Eight participants were arrested around 6 p.m. when they refused to leave after the congressman's office closed, protesters said.

(a little more at the link)

Shorebound speaking: I'm the first person to say Bush has committed impeachable offenses, from the original Patriot Act to lying about the war. I remain unconvinced, though, that this is a useful expression of our energies with the general election barely a year away. The time to impeach him was after the last election. To my mind we should be concentrating on the coming campaign.

I'm interested in how the rest of the folks here feel, though.

1. I disagree.
To simply wait out the rest of his term is to ignore the magnitude of the shrub's offenses... and potentially to imply acceptance of the same behavior from future presidents.

2. I'd like to know
why Allen voted with the majority of congress to "condemn" Iran and designate their army as a terrorist organization. That is usually the first step to "declaring war". I put that in quotes, because we haven't fought a legally declared war since WW2. It's always condemn the other country and then grant the president the authority to escalate. All downhill from there.

3. Good question, and one his supporters are asking as well.
NPR had a story on him... he's become unimpressive to some.

8. Well, I wouldn't vote for Collins if my life depended on it.
I agree with your assessment: she's a boot-licker.

10. Records
Collins voted to condemn Iran, too. I expect it out of her. I don't like Allen doing it. He's helping pave the road to war with Iran.

Only 12 Democrats had the balls to oppose this horrible "condemnation":

Nay HI-1 Abercrombie, Neil
Nay WI-2 Baldwin, Tammy
Nay OR-3 Blumenauer, Earl
Nay MI-14 Conyers, John
Nay MN-5 Ellison, Keith
Nay NY-22 Hinchey, Maurice
Nay CA-9 Lee, Barbara
Nay WA-7 McDermott, James
Nay CA-7 Miller, George
Nay WI-4 Moore, Gwen
Nay MA-1 Olver, John
Nay CA-13 Stark, Fortney

I'm not surprised that Michaud went along with it, but I'm shocked by Allen supporting it.

9. I want him out and punished now, instead of waiting 20 years like they did with Pinochet.
Edited on Thu Sep-27-07 07:59 AM by mainegreen
He is a very bad man. Very bad.
He needs to be impeached, tried and convicted.
Pick a crime. Hell, pick a few, he's committed so many.
Just nail him for the psychopathic narcissistic incompetent traitorous murderer that he is.

15. did you see the speech yesterday

his speech on cleaning up the planet went over like a lead balloon. nothing but bad press in foreign papers. and newscasts.
he's digging us deeper and deeper into a hole the next president will have to pull us out of.
especially public relations.
