Doubting seizure claim of Justice Roberts- Here's Why
Four days prior, H.R. 3195: To restore the intent protections of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990

What Roberts did was nothing more than political theater, and there is nothing more I despise than a person who fakes an illness that other people suffer from. I bet that in September-October when Congress is back from their break, this administration will come out with some kind of a euphemistic-sounding Leo Strauss type of A.D.A. Act, (that does the opposite of what it says) to do away with all of the people waiting for claims in the courts who have filed for disability and will basically further frustrate many that need this service. I feel as if we are headed into this oligarchical style of leadership that broke the back of Russia, where everyone worked and everyone was still poor. :grr:

There are no depths to which these people will stoop to, how pathetic.

1. I guess I miss the point

having grown up with a friend who had epilepsy, who rode a bike, played ball, was an altar boy, could get into as much mischief as the rest of us and was given chores perhaps i'm bias.
he retired several years ago and is still on medication. he worked in a paper mill, never drove and I think this was his choice.
I do think that there is some people with any disease that need assistance to survive
but plenty who can be regulated by medication.
the only thing wrong with justice roberts is he's in the wrong party. in his case their is probably no cure(for being republican).
but for people like my friend medicine has helped him lead a good life and i'm glad for him. his parents taught the neighborhood kids what to do if no adult was around.
when we were 7 he could speak 3 languages, french, slavish and broken english.
what i'm trying to say is be kind, not all of us have perfect health nor do many of us
not want to help those that need it. (notice i said many-i know a few republicans)
so i hope you mean no stigma when you mention epilepsy

2. No worries Lucky
Living a life with epilepsy can be done, many people try to cope as best they can with this insidious illness. My hats off to your friend, we all try to do what we can with the only life we have. I just question the timing of all this, and how it relates to the other bill in the house that came up only a few days before. This is why I must seriously question the one person who can write a new law into effect actually suffers from the same illness that might influence policy for the next generation. I still don't buy it.

I did want people to at least have a record of this pattern of misuse in setting policy. I also have epilepsy and have been on medication for it for 29 years. It becomes very clear to some as to the narrowed and limited choices people often face when they are being corralled down a tunnel guided mostly by their medication side-effects and the public stigma. Coupled with the House bill (H.R. 3195) that I mentioned in my earlier post. Most people after a seizure do not want the press to know about it, nor would they be happy and waving. This smells like a political stunt. I was also deliberating on which forum to put this thread on, but knowing that Maine does not yet have any affiliation which the Epilepsy Foundation of America, it would be nice to at least think about creating one. I am still skeptical that if Justice Roberts being so concerned about an illness that he is allegedly now possesses, I might look elsewhere for contributers. Like I said, if you notice a bill being passed that cuts the funding for social security or something to do with streamlining the ADA that sounds all rosy but will have the opposite outcome, like what the "clear skies" initiative really did. When Rumsfeld said he wanted this war "on the cheap", that should have been a hint and a half, just think about all the veterans coming home and expecting something but getting an unfortunate policy change for the worse. That also means that Bush and all his acolytes will do anything- even fake a seizure- to get sympathy for those less inclined to think about the evilness of political hardball. I wish for those that may be affected more so than I, that this will all be in error.

-Peace

3. I have had 3 seizures in my life
I do not have epilepsy. All three occurred in the same year over 12 years ago, right after 3 family members died with in months of each other, one being my father. The doctors and I have chucked it up to be stress. I haven't had any since.

Roberts has also had a seizure years ago, also unexplained. I'm sorry you feel this way, but I really don't think that he's doing this purposefully.

4. neither do I

But labels are often put on by Dr's. to cover a wide range of symptoms. Often for lack
of another answer.
As far as cuts by this administration; what else do you expect when you elect a puppet
you get what you elected.(and we all know he was bought and paid for by oil and big business)
It will take years for us to repair the damage this group has done to the working man.
