1. Tough race
It’s tough to beat an incumbent. It’s even tougher to beat an incumbent with a high approval rating in a state where the number one block of voters don’t belong to a political party.

There is one major divide here –Collins voted to give George II approval to conquer Iraq while Allen didn’t.

Allen has to make Iraq the focal point of the campaign. Collins has to deflect it to other issues.

What plays out in Iraq between now and November 2008 determines the result.

Collins isn’t the only Republican in Congress up for reelection in 2008 and vulnerable to this issue. There could soon be a lot of pressure from within the Republican Party on George II to take some steps away form our involvement there. I doubt that he would but if so it could kill Allen. His best interests lie with the status quo in Iraq.

2. There's a little more than the war...
There's

Supreme Court
Patriot Act (Habeus Corpus)
Taxes
Health care

Not to mention the environment and other peripheral issues that will strike a chord with Mainers.

3. she's very vulnerable

she's weak on environment, alternate fuel, credit card interest rates, bankruptcy law and etc. she voted for every major money bill or tax cut that hurt the average person in "maine".
If mainers vote their pocket book she will go! she voted us into the largest deficit this country has ever known!
her record will defeat her!
