Gordon questions injuries sustained while in custody at Knox County Jail
ROCKPORT (Jan 3): Nic Gordon and his family have spent the past week trying to find out how the 29-year-old sustained four fractures to his face following a night of drinking in Rockland December 22 that ended with Gordon's arrest and transport to the Knox County Jail early the following morning.
"I've been asking around and learned that it didn't happen at the bar," said Gordon Dec. 27, while sitting in a chair in his mother's Rockport home.
"I think it happened after I was arrested," said Gordon.
Four days after being arrested, the bruise surrounding Gordon's left eye appears to be healing. The purple color of the puffy skin that once framed his swollen eye is now turning shades of yellow and tan. The injuries have not only left him seeking care from a facial surgeon to repair the fractures, but portions of his face are numb, his eye is filled with blood, and he becomes dizzy enough to stumble when he stands for more than a couple minutes.
Gordon was arrested early Saturday morning, Dec. 23, and charged with disorderly conduct. He doesn't remember much from that night, which began at the Myrtle Street Tavern and continued on to the Time Out Pub, both located in Rockland. Gordon said he was with a group of friends and acquaintances, and denies that things got out of hand.
"My mother's friend is a bartender at the Time Out and she told me I was acting fine," said Gordon.
Rockland police were called to the Time Out Pub at 1:11 a.m. Dec. 23, minutes after the bar had closed for the night. The initial call came in as a disorderly complaint. According to documents on file at the police department, officers Nelly Waterman, Melissa Allaire and Tony Camporiale responded and Waterman transported Gordon to the county jail at 1:14 a.m. She completed the call at 1:26 a.m., with Camporiale being reassigned to another complaint at 1:20 a.m.
According to hospital documents, Gordon was admitted to the emergency room at Penobscot Bay Medical Center 34 minutes after Waterman turned Gordon over to jail officials
