Louisiana Democratic Party Chief to step down next year

(snip)....State Democratic Party Chairman Mike Skinner is leaving the post early next year to look into other political and business pursuits.
Skinner said Monday the supposedly part-time job has taken a lot of time and energy.

He said he enjoyed the work despite some setbacks in this year's congressional elections.

"I had decided before the elections I was going to leave after the Dec. 4 runoff," the Lafayette lawyer and former federal prosecutor said. (end snip)

Well, it's about freaking time. Maybe there is hope for us yet!

I'm sure he's a good man, but we need new faces and fresh ideas. Let the rebuilding begin!

2. I'm going to talk to Mike Stagg tonight about running

I think Mike would be a WONDERFUL person to lead the Democratic Party in Louisiana. For crying out loud, the guy walked the entire state of Louisiana during his run for Governor. He's progressive, smart, committed to Democratic ideals (not DINO philisophy), technology savy and could really build a dynamite grassroots Democratic effort here. I think he needs to throw his hat in the ring. I think everyone here needs to encourage him to make a bid for a LA Democratic party leadership position.

3. Do you have a link to Mike Stagg's bio/vitae?

I'm willing to support a progressive - NO dinos, Dixiecrats, or turncoats!

That's the site for his tech organization. There is a short bio there. Mike was an enthusiastic supporter of Howard Dean, so I think that should tell you that he's no DINO or Dixiecrat! I sent him an email, and invited him to visit us here and let us know if he is remotely interested in replacing Skinner. I'm sure if he is interested in the job, he'll be glad to post his position papers from his run for Governor. (He had some really great ideas on healthcare) Mike was by far the most progressive Democratic candidate there was in that race, and I was really disappointed that more people didn't vote for him.

5. GREAT!! He's the first guy that came to mind

when I heard the news. As a matter of fact, he was the ONLY person I could think of to fill that position.
