I'm so glad, Tauzin was such an asshole. We lost in the 7th district but 2006 is a midterm election which means that GOP seats are more vulnerable. I bet we pick that one back up.

I'm glad Melancon won, but I was also glad I was up here in the north and spared the moral conundrum of voting in this race.

Then again, it may not even be possible to elect a true progressive in Louisiana. So I'll take the pandering conservative Democrat.

3. No shit, all LA democrats are lesser evils, but...

Beating Tauzin was a big deal, because Tauzin's campaign was disgusting. When he was running against Craig Romero he ran ads basically saying "My opponent isn't as fascist as I am and therefore is an evil 'liburl'." The concept of Craig Romero being a liberal is hillarious. Then when he ran against Melancon he used the word 'liberal' as an insult again, which really pissed me off. The fact is that we beat the guy who thought he could win by being a fascist pig and calling his opponent liberal. Melancon isn't a progressive by any means, but this is the deep south, I'll take what I can get.
