Governor gives backing to Mount in House race

ABBEVILLE -- Gov. Kathleen Blanco on Wednesday endorsed Democrat state Sen. Willie Mount in the Dec. 4 runoff election for Louisiana's congressional 7th District seat,saying Mount would not blindly serve party bosses in Washington, D.C.

"Willie's going to charm the socks off all the party bosses in Washington," said Blanco, a Democrat.

"She'll have them doing it her way instead of their way."

Blanco and Mount traveled to Abbeville, the Vermilion Parish seat, to make the announcement surrounded by a roomful of supporters.

Now that she has returned from her "secret, undisclosed location" she hid in during the primaries, I'm glad to see that she is putting forth the effort to at least mention the Democratic candidates for Congress.
