Can we set-up thread to help ppl contact friends/family in disaster area?
Since some people are having trouble reaching long distance to contact Louisiana and Mississippi, (but text messages seem to mostly be getting through)I'd like to two things:

1) Ask people here on DU to post requests in the thread, and for others to volunteer to attempt to contact people.

2) Provide an email address for non-DU-Members to contact for message relays.

I'd suggest that someone set-up a "disposable" address on AOL or Yahoo for that purpose.

Also, does anyone have contact info for a HAM Radio group? I remember during the Los Angeles quake, there was a HAM Radio group that volunteered to help with that through CompuServe.

Thanks!

Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 06:33 PM by Nikki Stone 1
She is in the Town Hall/Skating Rink in Sun, and I haven't spoken to her since Sunday night. She is there with her grandson. If someone would be willing to text message for me, please contact me at nikki_stone1@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Nikki

On edit: I don't know if she has text messaging, but any info on the Town Hall in Sun will be helpful. Thanks.

5. Missing Relative Info

I'm continuing to gether local resources, if anybody has anything let me know and I'll add it. I fear these local agencies are going to be hit hard before the national monies reach them.
