Discord erupts among small band of Kansas Senate Democrats
A fight is brewing among the nine Kansas Democrats that make up the party's Senate caucus.

Chris SteinegerChris SteinegerAnthony HensleyAnthony HensleySen. Chris Steineger, a Kansas City, Kan., Democrat, is criticizing Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley, a Topeka Democrat, and said Friday he is seriously considering a challenge to Hensley's leadership position.

"Under Anthony's leadership, we've gone from 13 seats down to nine despite having good candidates and a lot of money," he said.

He also accused Hensley of not sharing the power and decision-making with the rest of his small caucus.

"This has led to a very divided caucus," Steineger said.

1. We had a few very good Democratic candidates who SHOULD have succeeded this year. I don't think the
party does enough for good candidates. They seem to be frozen in time, doing things the old way. Fundraising with sources who are covering their bets with both parties. Getting money from people who don't do much else, none of the other kinds of networking and other work that needs to be done. Narrow strategy, little organized effort to get the message (what the heck-ever THAT is) out, not to even mention new technological media. Doing some basic things about campaign training, but pretty much expecting the proletarians to get out there and do it ALL. The party leadership in Kansas is obsolete. If Chris Steineger is going to speak out about this, I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who wants to hear what he has to say.

2. P.S. This isn't the first year that I've seen GOOD candidates go down for lack of support from
"the party". I'm getting tired of it.

4. I'm hoping some of these new folks we've been seeing around keep in touch with CS.

I've been at Health Care reform meetings where the prevailing sentiment was against CS's Health Care legislation proposal. There was a large KU Med contingent their and they're pushing for Universal Single Payer and Steineiger's proposal was too middle-of-the-road for them (and me too). CS listened real closely and worked with his "opposition" anyway. I like that!

P.S. that WAS a non-official KU Med bunch - medical professionals on staff there.
