Party at evlbstrd's this Friday
It's the day that Rex can join us. I'll be making a birthday cake.

What time should we show up?

1. Barring any Official Advertising Emergencies,
any time after six should be fine.
Maybe I'll clean the place this time.

2. I'll bring a copy of "V for Vendetta"
You guys will love it.

Don't worry about cleaning your place. We come to see you not to do house inspections. Besides, if you clean your place the next thing I know you'll expect me to clean mine. :eyes: As if!

I think we should think about ordering pizzas or something. Also, what kind of cake do you want? What kind of icing do you prefer? I can even bring paper plates so you don't have to clean up.

3. And I don't want to disturb the new experiments.
I haven't seen V yet. Cool!
If I have to pick cake, it would be carrot cake.
We can get your garden variety delivery pizza or pick some up at D'Bronx.

5. D'Bronx, no question.
It's just a few blocks away. We should have good pizza before the oil runs out and civilization collapses.

6. D'Bronx it is
I'll call Tim tomorrow and let him know. I'll make sure he does not mention it to his ex-wife.

Should I find out about Dennis the Chemist? I still need to figure out what he was saying about plastics and the petrochemical industry.

7. Good thinkin'.
She kinda sucks out all the air.
Dennis would be great! We can talk about Peak Oil and get all worried!
No, actually, Dennis is fascinating. He was explaining that our world is completely dependent on oil, which is declining. And I think he was saying that plastics, a petrochemical product, could be used as an alternative fuel. Then again, I was pretty fucked up and laughing at Tim's ex.

8. I'll talk to Rex tomorrow
and ask him to give Dennis a call. I thought he was saying that plastic could be made from corn cellulose which is also used for making alternative fuels. It didn't make any difference. Every conversation got hi-jacked by Tim's ex. LOL. She was fascinating. I was amazed at how long she could talk about absolutely nothing. And then repeat it with even more excruciating detail.

She was funny after a while. I didn't know what to think at first. Then I started egging her on and Tim didn't stop me.

10. I had fun
It was an interesting evening. You got dumped by proud and then we both got dumped by my husband. Sometimes I wish I could videotape my life. At the very least, I could look at the tape later and try to figure out what just happened.

What with that short term memory problem and all. As the current occupants tell us, I can't recall.

15. Do you like pecans?
I've got a carrot cake recipe that I like putting pecans into. If you think the only nuts should be the people attending I can leave the pecans out of the cake.

18. One of these days I will get to party with you guys again
Happy Birthday, Evlbstd. I do believe that you have caught up to me agewise, 51? I hope you have the best year ever, with many more to come.

Hope you all have a great time celebrating and if I were there I would be making the pizzas.

Work has gotten crazy, someone in Florida discovered that we have hurricane season right around the corner and that the rich are losing their beaches. So we have been super busy down in south Florida with our Erosion Control business. Good news, I have been able to travel out of the boonies, bad news, no one out here gives a shit about what is going on in the country. Not a clue. It feels hopeless at times. If I knew the latest news on American Idol or Paris Hilton I would be able to have a conversation with people, though I have been getting positive comments on the "Bring our troops home" ribbons that I have on my construction trucks. I guess that is a start.

So have a wonderful birthday and please say Hi to everyone there for me.

Happy Birthday.

 :toast: :grouphug:

For the record, I'm 39!
Glad to hear you're getting out of the boonies and business is booming. We'll hoist some Irish whiskey in your honor!

There's a small chance I'll be working a little late. But my brother is at the house.

27. The cake is still cooling
and Rex won't be here for another hour or so. Then I'll have to pack the car with proud's lawn chair, the cake, the movie, etc. We also have to make a beer stop (but we'll probably wait and hit the stores near your house). We won't get there until after 6:30.

fwiw, I told Tim that it would start around 7.

30. It was
Believe me it was. It had a precocious aroma, a fiery temper and a strong sense of nationalism (brewed at "the only independent Irish-owned distillery in Ireland" and I felt ambushed by the end of the evening. ;)

btw, evl got the single malt.
