Tipster: Prez (sic) to be in Topeka Sunday for Ryun
Guess who's coming to Topeka Sunday, two days before election day, to stump for Congressman Jim Ryun?

None other than the First-Stumper-In-Chief, George W. Bush.

No details yet. But all that talk that Ryun may be in trouble? Guess we now know there may be something to it.

UPDATE: Charlie Cook -- well respected political analyst -- has added KS-02 to the list of "toss up" races. This, as Nancy Boyda gets commercial help on KC television from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

1. I saw that in the paper this morning
along with the news that Phelps is looking to sue Topeka again. It just gets better and better.

I think Ryun must be in real trouble. Bush** popularity is way down in this state so this may likely backfire like the Cheney visit likely did. This could not happen to a more deserving guy, well lets hope it happens to our Senators as well when their turn comes along.

2. LOL - DCCC is running Boyda ads
:woohoo: My brother saw a DCCC Boyda ad last night. They have finally recognized (no doubt, thanks in part to Charlie Cook) that this is a race that could go for the Dems.

Me thinks the RNC is :scared:

4. I liked this comment
The fact that Bush is spending the final days of the campaign at a rally for someone who should have been a shoo-in tells you everything you need to know about this election. Remember when Republicans had a good chance of knocking off Dennis Moore? Now they are reduced to trying to protect incumbents like Jim Ryun.

I'm checking that blog from time to time for updates. Right now the update is that Bush will be in Missouri on Friday to give stump with a certain no Talent chump.

Bush coming to Missouri for Talent
SAM HANANEL
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - President Bush will travel to Missouri on Friday to campaign for Republican Sen. Jim Talent, the first time the two will appear together at a public campaign event in the state this year.

The White House confirmed the trip Tuesday, though details about where Bush would visit were not immediately available. Talent told reporters in Springfield, Mo., that tickets for an event in there were already being distributed.

White House spokesman Alex Conant said Bush's appearance is not just for Talent and will include several other Missouri GOP candidates.

***

Bush's trip is part of a weeklong tour geared to help Republicans motivate conservative voters just four days before the Nov. 7 election. Recent polls continue to show Talent and Democratic State Auditor Claire McCaskill running about even in a race that could determine whether Democrats retake control of the Senate.
