Anyone want/need an update on the Linn County Picnic?

Of course... you are all invited!

The day kicks off at 1 p.m. with a FREE Children's Carnival complete with old fashioned games and merriment. We'll have snocones, popcorn, cool beverages, games and prizes. Bring the family and make a day of it!

Throughout the day, you'll have an opportunity to DUNK-A-DEM! That's right, you will definitely the undivided attention of your local representatives and office holders for a few moments! Balls are $5 for 3 or $2 for 1 -- proceeds go back into the campaign funds of those local candidates who are brave enough to hop in the tank.

Following the children's carnival (did I mention it was free?) we'll hear from all our wonderful local, regional and state-wide candidates. Those scheduled to speak include:

2nd District Congressional candidate Dave Loebsack (fresh off of the last leg of RAGBRAI)
Lt. Gov. candidate Patty Judge
Iowa Sec. of State candidate Michael Mauro
Iowa Sec. of Agriculture candidate Denise O'Brien
Iowa House candidates: Ro Foege (I), Art Staed, Jan Kvach, Tyler Olson
Iowa Senate Candidate Rob Hogg (current Iowa House Rep.)
and many of our local candidates as well!

of course, we'll have one other quite well known speaker .... SEN. JOHN KERRY

Dinner will be served at $5 per plate beginning at roughly 5 p.m. The menu includes grilled burgers, hot dogs, brats, baked beans, chips, dessert and beverage (soda, water, lemonade or beer).

There will be live music throughout the day, featuring local musician Dave Bucklin following dinner.

It's almost impossible to find anyone who will take my Saturday hours, and this time it just didn't work out. If the party's still going at 1115pm, give me a shout. Sounds like a great time.
