Vilsack, Bayh back Nevada proposal

Denver, Colo. - Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack and Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh said they would support a proposed 2008 presidential nominating calendar that inserts a contest between the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary, should the party adopt the schedule next month.

<snip>

Vilsack said Iowa and New Hampshire will remain the traditional lead-off states, despite the decision by the Democratic National Committee's rules and bylaws committee Saturday to insert Nevada's party caucuses between the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary.

<snip>

"At this point we continue to preserve our first-in-the-nation status and that's important," Vilsack said, referring to both Iowa and New Hampshire.

The calendar recommended by the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee (and voted on by Lt. Gov. Sally Pederson) is in violation of existing Iowa Law (having no contest earlier than eight days after Iowa's Caucus). OUR Governor agrees with a plan that violates state law. :shrug: I guess it doesn't matter to him - law-schmaw I wanna be President. :shrug:

1. He told me in DM that he could reach people "in their hearts."
I didn't know this was the kind of reach around he was referring to.

Enjoy your retirement Tom.

2. State Law? What difference does that make...I mean he's only
Governor of Iowa who swore an oath to uphold it...but really, that can't get in the way of the PRESIDENCY! *sarcasm off*

I wish I was back in Iowa so I could vote against him in 2008...
