Poll question: So, ah, heh heh, who is everyone in the First District
Supporting for Congress? :7

(I blame Pirate Smile for starting this trend - and possibly reigniting some flames)

And these names are listed this way because they are in ALPHABETICAL ORDER - not because I like one candidate over all the others...really :P

1. Go ahead, blame me. ; ) I'm in the Second District so I can't vote but
I've seen Braley's commercials and love them - very Wellstonian.

3. Hopefully, it will end with the Dems picking up a seat in Congress.

4. Don't worry - we'll all band together
Who would want Dix/Whalen/Kennedy as our representative?

7. I think the DCCC interference in 2002 kept a lot of voters home
or from voting (Looking at the amount of votes that Vilsack/Harkin/Culver won the district by Hutchinson should have beaten Nussle - for whatever reason people did not vote straight Party - or did not vote in the Congressional race). Unless the IWR issue kept people supporting those who were already in Congress (Harkin and Nussle along with Leach, Boswell and Latham)

2004? The power of incumbancy?

8. Well as it happened Ms Hitchinson was antichoice
while Mayor of Bettendorf and then reversed positions when it came to her congressional race and this does not play successfully in this area where so many are Dems and antichoice through their ethnic cultural influences. This county is so typical of that sort of thing. This is what happens when people are never taught to analyze their beliefs, decisions and lives but instead go through their existences on a kind of mental cruise control.

9. I don't know that women's reproductive health care rights are what
decided the primary. The other to Democrats were for a woman's right to choose. If you mean that it is the reason Hutchinson lost in the general - maybe - but Gluba doesn't believe in women's rights and he lost in 2004. I agree, the First District is strange, with areas of strict conservatism and then other areas of :woohoo: rampant liberalism :woohoo: Hopefully the more left leaning groups will prevail in November.

11. Nah, either Gluba or Braley here
Why the hell is your mayor running as a republican? It seems to me that any African American who has anything to do with the republican party is akin to a chicken embracing Colonel Sanders. I assume that you're still in Clinton btw.

12. The Clinton Mayor wanted to retire out of politics with a dark spot
on her undistinguished grey-scale career I guess?

I'm sure local GOP bootlickers will be screaming "FLIP FLOP" from the rooftops around Clinton, given her legacy of I'm non partisan claims.

Oh Wait, these are Republicans we are talking about.
