7. I think the DCCC interference in 2002 kept a lot of voters home
or from voting (Looking at the amount of votes that Vilsack/Harkin/Culver won the district by Hutchinson should have beaten Nussle - for whatever reason people did not vote straight Party - or did not vote in the Congressional race). Unless the IWR issue kept people supporting those who were already in Congress (Harkin and Nussle along with Leach, Boswell and Latham)
8. Well as it happened Ms Hitchinson was antichoice
while Mayor of Bettendorf and then reversed positions when it came to her congressional race and this does not play successfully in this area where so many are Dems and antichoice through their ethnic cultural influences. This county is so typical of that sort of thing. This is what happens when people are never taught to analyze their beliefs, decisions and lives but instead go through their existences on a kind of mental cruise control.
9. I don't know that women's reproductive health care rights are what
decided the primary. The other to Democrats were for a woman's right to choose. If you mean that it is the reason Hutchinson lost in the general - maybe - but Gluba doesn't believe in women's rights and he lost in 2004. I agree, the First District is strange, with areas of strict conservatism and then other areas of :woohoo: rampant liberalism :woohoo: Hopefully the more left leaning groups will prevail in November.
Why the hell is your mayor running as a republican? It seems to me that any African American who has anything to do with the republican party is akin to a chicken embracing Colonel Sanders. I assume that you're still in Clinton btw.
