1. Not in your district, but am curious - what does your headline
mean? Is Braley anti-union or does he hire non-union or something?

3. Sounds like some desperation on the part of Dickinson.
If I read it right. Seems like a grasp at straws.

4. Definitely
And just the kind of sloppy campaigning we don't need/want in a primary. When we start attacking each other with innuendos and lies it just opens the door for the repubs to use the same lines.

Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

5. Well, being an AFL-CIO member
this is good to know. I still haven't quite made up my mind as to whom to support, but this endorsement doesn't hurt.
On another matter, I realize a lot of people here in the Iowa forum may not realize the potential impact of this, but Lane Evans is going to retire. He is the long time Democratic Representative from Illinois' sprawling 17th district. The district basically runs the Mississippi River from the Quad-Cities almost all the way to St. Louis. He has been there a long time and has had health problems for the past few years. As far as anyone can tell, the Democrats have no one to run against Andrea Zinga, who just gained the Republican nomination in the district. This is critical, imo, as Evans has been there for many many years, and is a Viet Nam vet who cannot be smeared. It's been tried and failed. Hate to pick up a seat here in Iowa's First and lose one in Illinois' 17th.

6. WHAT? That's too bad
Evans is a good Democratic representative and 100% unbeatable.

7. Yeah just saw it on a local newscast
Someone posted it in the Illinois forum as well. I think it may in LBN as well. And he was unbeatable. But he was recently hospitalized for complications with his MS. He is only 54 years old too. Not much older than me. I wish him all the best. I also tried the Rock Island County Dems website and they don't have anything about it, but it says they just launched, so I imagine they will. Damn it! He was a good rep.

8. I had some hard feelings toward him in 2002
When he got involved in the primary in the First (choosing Hutchinson over Nagle, whom he had served with) but I heard through the grapevine that the UAW told him that he could either support Hutchinson or try to win w/out them. (Of course, he would have won without them, but his opponent in 2002 was making hay of his health and he didn't need the added bs of labor not supporting him). That kind of crap just pisses me off.

He'll be remembered with the best of them. I just hope IL can find a candidate and quick!

11. Denny Jacobs.
Yeah, he's from East Moline. He recently proposed that inmates and homeless eat carp. Now if you've ever tasted carp, you know it may be among the crappiest tasting fish in history. I believe that the article may still be on www.qctimes.net. You may have to look for it though. One note though; smoked carp is pretty good. But I'm not sure Jacobs was talking about smoked carp. Mike Boland may be a better choice for that district.

12. I need to correct myself
Denny Jacobs is retired. Mike Jacobs is who I was referring to in the above post. Mike is Denny's son. Sorry about that.

9. What does that do to Dickinson's two endorsements?
Do they have to rescind their support?
