FYI post: Eastern IA Airport to offer non-stop flights to Atlanta
It won't start until June and there will only be one flight per day (leaving early, returning late), but it is a start. I believe the carrier doing this is Delta.

1. Sweet!
Maybe we are a real city after all!

I have yet to take advantage of any of our direct flights (lack of funds and all), so I shouldn't complain.

2. Yeah, same here.
We can fly out of Des Moines or Chicago and pay for storage of our vehicle for less than we can fly out of Cedar Rapids. It's crazy.

3. It's not quite in Iowa, but
AirTran offers 3 flights a day from Moline to Atlanta. They're a good low-cost carrier; much better than Southwest, IMHO.
