Companies to rebid for Katrina recovery efforts

Interesting note:

Grassley is PISSED. it appears as if some republican senators are getting really frustrated with the administration, namely Snowe and Grassley.... Sometimes I am not ashamed of MR. Grassley, and here's an example:

“Unfortunately, the White House is working against me behind the scenes, and I resent that considering how I’ve delivered for the White House so much over the last five years,” said Senate Finance Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, R-Iowa."

1. Ugh. Are you FROM Iowa?

I don't want to come off rudely, but if you actually lived here you would never say "Sometimes I am not ashamed of MR. Grassley". This guy has done nothing for Iowa Democrats but throw them bones every now and then when he knows it doesn't matter.

Notice his key phrase "considering how I’ve delivered for the White House so much over the last five years". Well, he got one thing right.

He has the non-informed snowed into thinking he is a moderate (he isn't), and apparently he tricked you with his weak objection to the current administration.

If you are looking for a republican to admire for buckin the system, you got the wrong guy.

5. That's not what I meant!
I was just continuing your point.

Grassley has carried the administration's water and kept quiet while they screw Americans. NOW he's decided to grow some balls and they push him aside, what did he THINK they would do?

Wonder if he's re-thinking some of his get-along-go-along votes now?

Wonder if he still wants to privatize Social Security?

7. Let us not forget that FABULOUS medicare drug bill
That one is Grassley's crowning achievement. It alone should bankrupt the Fed government with its sweetheart deals to Big Pharma. And throw in the pork project of all pork projects - a rain forest in Iowa - leaves little doubt who Grassley is working for. Leading the way in Bankrupting the USA!

I am a former Luther College Democrat. I like the guy more than my actual senators Hutchison and Cornyn. Sure I haven't kept up with Iowa politics.... there is SO MUCH going on in Texas.

For the record, like most of you I hate most of the crap he's done. His comment does show loyalty to the Admin, but its interesting to see them back away. He is still proving himself to be a stalwart fiscal conservative. I was just impressed that he's speaking publicly against them thats all.... additional quotes:

"We can't dilly-dally on Capitol Hill as people in the region face real-world decisions on whether to relocate or not," Senator Charles E. Grassley, Republican of Iowa, said at another session, that of the Senate Finance Committee, which he heads. "American taxpayers are compassionate, but rightly expect their hard-earned tax dollars to be spent wisely." Its a fair statement.

Cause I live in Texas, "my" Senator has to be Harkin.

All I wanted to do was post something for you guys just in case you missed it cause your Senator had something to say today.

2. Don't get too proud of the good 'ole Senator
http://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=S0291103

What did he think would happen...he will be used up and thrown away if he doesn't go lock-step with the administration.

He's done everything he's been told to do...if he gets out of line he'll end up out of the loop and replaced.

9. he made my Quote of the Day today on another board
he's of your father's type of republican that i can at least have some respect for. i hardly ever agree with him, but respect his motives. the whole scene surrounding the rain forest though, really put me at odds with the old man. this at least will bring him back under the umbrella.
