95+ at Camp Casey: Cedar Rapids tonight
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 09:22 PM by MaggieSwanson
- I just got back. The crowd was magnificent; so many of us want to show our solidarity with Cindy. We had KCRG (Channel 9), KGAN (Channel 2), and the Cedar Rapids Gazette come to cover the event. Eastern Iowans, I'd go with KCRG at 10pm.

Cindy, our thoughts are with you. Thank you for lighting the way.

...and if you missed out tonight, there's a weekend-long vigil; kicking off the event on Friday at 7pm we will have a guest speaker: a Gold Star Families for Peace member is coming up from Crawford where she has been standing with Cindy.

THIS IS A WEEKEND EVENT Friday August 19 - Sunday August 21, 2005! We are Camping Out for Peace and Justice in support of Cindy Sheehan and her quest to speak the truth with the President about the war in Iraq. Join us in our vigil to share ideas for promoting peace and justice. Learn more about "The S.E.E.D. Society" taking root in Cedar Rapids. The "Camp Out for Peace and Justice" participants will meet at the parking lot at 1st Avenue and 2nd Street SW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Friday August 19, 2005 at 6 pm. We will disperse on Sunday at 2:00 pm. Peace grows. Plant seeds.

1. We had around 100 in Davenport
At least two media outlets were there, KWQC TV and the Quad City Times. Isn't KGAN owned by Sinclair? Just wondering. Glad there was a good turnout there too. The people of the USA are sending a message to bushco whether bushco likes it or not. And next year is an election year.

2. Go, Davenport!
I hear from my mom in Iowa City that there were over 100 there as well.

3. I posted a thread about it
and like the absent minded (scatter brained?) guy that I am, I forgot my *^#! camera, so no pics. Just out of curiousity, is the lady who is going up to CR named Caryn Unsicker? She's a local who was in Crawford and spoke at our vigil tonight.
